2015 Capital Improvement Project
The Fairport Central School District residents approved a $29.2 million facilities referendum for capital improvements throughout the District from the District’s annual Budget Vote on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.
The project was divided into two separate phases to accommodate the New York State Education Department (NYSED) project review process. Phase 1 included roof replacement and masonry restoration at nearly every district building. Phase 2 included interior and exterior renovations at multiple district buildings.
The District first utilized the approved $5,475,000 from its Capital Reserve Fund. Also helping to offset the cost of the project was state building aid (77.5% NYS aid of eligible renovations). Once the $5,475,000 was depleted, the District borrowed funds for the remainder of the costs. The debt will be paid for over a period of 15 years, during which time state building aid will also be received.
